Port Fourchon

Location Fourchon, LA

Centrally located on the Gulf of Mexico in southeast Louisiana, Port Fourchon, the Gulf’s Energy Connection, is an established service hub with a world-class reputation for efficiency. The port acts as one concentrated market for high-quality and cost-effective energy industry supplies and services from a variety of equipment, service, and logistics companies. Port Fourchon and its many valued tenants effectively service nearly 100% of all Deepwater offshore energy activity in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.

Key benefits “Port Fourchon is the most important offshore oil and gas service port in the country, and we are excited that Entergy Louisiana and ECO are partnering to keep us on the leading edge,” said Chett Chiasson, executive director of the Greater Lafourche Port Commission, which oversees Port Fourchon. “Economic growth and environmental sustainability are directly connected in Bayou Lafourche, and this shore power project is a shining example of taking care of our home so that it remains a desirable destination for suppliers and oil and gas operators.”

Shore power connects Entergy’s investments in utility generation to marine vessels in ports. In Louisiana specifically, Entergy Louisiana will purchase power from the 50-megawatt Capital Region Solar facility in West Baton Rouge Parish once completed this summer. This new, clean-power resource will add to approximately 190 megawatts of renewable resources, which includes run-of-river hydro, biomass, and waste heat recovery.  Because of Entergy Louisiana’s investments in carbon-free nuclear generation, highly efficient natural gas generation, and renewable generation, customers can leverage the utility’s emissions portfolio to create local and societal benefits.
